RECYCLING REMINDER
From the Environmental Land Use Committee

Wondering how to dispose of your old refrigerator or television set? What should you do about disposing of household hazardous waste such as pesticides or batteries? Is nail polish considered a hazardous waste? For information on these items and many more, MLMA residents are encouraged to visit the Fairfax County website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/living/recycling/ . This website contains a great deal of useful information such as a list of what are recyclable materials, what is acceptable and unacceptable waste, and the locations of drop off centers for items that cannot be accepted for curbside pickup (such as large appliances and household hazardous waste). The website also contains information on upcoming “Electric Sunday” events where county residents can recycle televisions, computers and electronic peripherals at the I-66 Transfer Station located at 4618 West Ox Road in Fairfax. Upcoming 2009 Electric Sunday events are scheduled for June 14, July 12, August 16, Sept 20, Oct 18, and Nov 15.
