Pool Use Rules and Regulations

The following Rules and Regulations are established in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the County of Fairfax Codes, as applicable to the operation and use of public community pools.  Accordingly, all patrons shall observe and comply with these rules, contained herein.  Non-compliance may result in temporary suspension of individual pool privileges.  All persons using this pool facility shall do so ‘at their own risk’ and shall not hold MLMA liable for any personal injuries sustained, while within the pool area. 

                                                      PRIOR to entering the water:

1) All swimmers / bathers shall shower (soap and warm water) before entering the pool, and shall shower, after using rest room facilities, before (re) entering the pool.  All swimmers / bathers are strongly urged (requested) to ‘shower-off’ all sun-tan lotions prior to entering the water.

2) Persons with recent (within past 14 days) cases of diarrhea are prohibited from using the pool.

3) Persons having an obvious skin disease, nasal or ear discharge, inflamed eye, or any communicable disease shall be excluded (Prohibited) from using the pool facility (entering water).

4) Swimmers / bathers who are not toilet trained or incontinent persons must wear a swim (cloth or disposable diapers are prohibited) diaper (which includes baby pool).

                                                            Health and Sanitation:
Accidental introduction of any bodily wastes including sputum into pool water must be immediately reported to life guards.  Intentional introduction of any bodily wastes into pool water is strictly prohibited. 
Do Not Drink pool water.

                                            UNACCEPTABLE Pool behavior / Safety:
1) No running on pool deck – at any time. Boisterous/excessive horseplay, unnecessary roughness, and/or creating undue disturbances are not permitted.

2) All pool toys and pool equipment are subject to life guard approval for use.  Toys / items of hard plastic – shall not be thrown or tossed-about within the pool area.  Metal objects and/or objects with sharp edges of all types are not permitted in the pool – at any time.

3) Diving is not permitted: pushing / shoving any person into either pool is not permitted.

4) All youths, under age 12 are subject to the ‘15 Minute’ Rest / Break Periods at 1 and 3:30 PM. 

                                                      Pool Deck RESTRICTIONS:
1) Wheeled vehicles, except for baby strollers, wheel chairs and/or physical assistance equipment are not permitted.

2) Head phones must be worn with any acoustical equipment. 

3) Only proper pool attire / swim wear (no cut-offs) is permitted in the pool. Clothing / Swim wear deemed ‘inappropriate’ (risqué) by life guards / management may result in patrons being required to immediately leave the pool.

4) Glass containers, of any type, are strictly prohibited within the pool area.  Consuming food / beverages is not permitted on the pool deck, but may be consumed on the wooden deck area.  Alcoholic beverages are not permitted within the pool area.

5) Smoking is permitted on the wooden deck area only, where receptacles are provided.

Pets of all types are not permitted in the pool area, with the exception of service animals (dogs); which however may not enter the water.
Life guards / management reserve the Right to suspend pool use privileges to any patron for actions not in compliance with these Rules and Regulations and/or deemed to be inappropriate / unacceptable in a family-oriented pool environment. Inappropriate and/or vulgar language/behavior will not be tolerated, at any time, and will be cause for immediate removal from the pool area.
